I'm from the west coast and we didn't have much out there except I was VERY fortunate to spend a month in Nancy Kallenbach Hans' (NDGA author of Kerry Blues & a Bedlington queen) shop in the San Francisco Bay Area. Thank God she taught me quality grooming . . . but then I was left to continue learning on my own. Did you know that Nancy is self-taught by buying Shirlee Kalstone's original book many, many years ago? Well that's the same book that Nancy had me buy to train on because there was nothing else of quality on the market until your book came out . . . so THANKS again!! And I've also got the practical "Theory of 5". I consider "Notes" my bible and it has given me tremendous confidence in KNOWING that I am producing the breed profile. That's been HUGE over the years.

This is the grooming guide to replace all others. I would suggest that if you are choosing a school, you would hope that this is the chosen text book for the course.
I witnessed the instructors using different angles when using different blades and asked if they were doing what I thought I saw them doing. Melissa has nailed allot of the details that the instructors (that I had) didn't teach.
I just graduated from Groom School. I will be going to bed with Notes From the Grooming Table for the next week at least.

I am so pumped I just got my new grooming book, Notes From the Grooming Table by melissa Verplank. it is great. Well worth the wait to get it and well worth the money.

It is great! Definitely well worth the money! I think all of the certifying organizations should switch to this book for their study guide. It's very detailed and very current. Ten times better than anything on the market!!!!

I have a dozen or so grooming books and this is the best of all on what you need to know about obtaining the best look for your dogs! I even have grooming videos that don't give the detail on how to get the look I'm after. This book has it all! Are you holding your scissors right? It's in here too! 4 PAWS UP!! THANK YOU MELISSA!!!

I'm so excited! I was hesitant about spending that much money on a book but I'm soo glad I did! If this book would have came out a year ago I would have saved so much time, stress and money!! It is soo beautifully illustrated and you can see exactly what you need to see to make the dogs look soo much nicer!

The Shih Tzu face just flips me out! I'm so worried about doing the puppy/teddy bear face that I don't even try. I'm so intimidated that I won't ask my friends to do their dogs for fear I'll totally mess them up. With this book and the pictures of detail I'm going to try now!!
